The Day PPW First Took Over Hazleton

By: Mitchell Frantz

PPW has traveled all throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania since the company's inception in 2013, but PPW has become synonymous with Holy Family Academy in Hazleton.

The companies hosts the vast majority of its shows there, and has build up a loyal following inside the gym. Able to hold over 1,000 fans, the Holy Family Academy has proven to be the ideal home to host wrestling events month after month. With that being said, it was not the first venue PPW has ever had, and to pack the seats with the best fans around, PPW had to pull out a who's who of stars to make sure their first event at the Holy Family Academy was not their last.

The event was PPW After Shock and it took place on April 26, 2014. An energized Hazleton crowd was able to witness 7 matches and plenty of twists and turns throughout the night.

The first ever PPW Television Champion was crowned in a 12 man battle royal, multiple former WWF/E stars were in the building and a chapter of the heated David Starr vs Tommy Suede rivalry was added.

Mark Maverick became the first ever PPW Television Champion after defeating men like Brandon Scott, TJ Masters and Travis Dorian, among others to earn the gold. With the victory, Maverick has the distinct honor of becoming the first champion in history.

Some of the stars in attendance that night were Matt Morgan, Headshrinker Samu, Kenny Dykstra and Gene Snitsky. The success of the show allowed for Hazleton to become the permanent home of the best wrestling in all of Pennsylvania.
